As you can see, the better the quality, the higher the price. A katana with all the bells and whistles will run you around $1,000, usually more. A custom made blade by Howard Clark costs $2,400+ for an unpolished blade. A full traditional polish costs $70-$250 per inch. A koshirae package from Fred Lohman company costs $995. Custom made tsuba, menuki and fuchi/kashira sets cost from $2,500-$10,000. Shinken from Nosyuiaido costs from $6,000-$7,500 for a fully mounted blade. A custom made shinken from a Japanese smith cost more than $10,000 just for the unpolished blade.
